Is it possible for a piggy to have mites but without the typical hair loss? Badger has been extra touchy when stroking his rear end (I can't even pick him up because he's so flighty and startled at the moment when touching his bottom end), he's normally nippy (always has been) but he bit my partner when he was stroking his rump.

This is the only symptom of mites that he's displaying, his coat is still healthy looking and he is acting himself when his bottom isn't being touched. Is it possible to have mites without the fur loss?

Yes it is possible though eventually there would be hair thinning. It may be in the early stages. If he is sensitive though then it needs checking out by the vet. If it is mange mites then injections are the most effective method of giving Ivermectin. Other possibilities include fungal or something with his grease gland.

I gave him an application of Xeno 450 that I had in the first aid kit last night, he's better today in terms of sensitivity :) I'll finish the course and have him seen if there's no further improvement :)

I'll research on the grease gland issue too, Boris always has a lot grease there so worth knowing, thank you :)

There was a pig on here a few weeks back and there was a possibility of his grease gland being infected, or something like that, I can't quite remember. Does sound mite related though.
