I’ve had my 2 boy piggies for about a month now (think they’re about 16/17 weeks old) They’re getting a lot better at being picked up/held now. I had one of the pigs on my lap giving him a little brush and I noticed what looked like dust. But then it moved. I tried to comb his fur to have a good look but the comb wasn’t picking anything up. I found another one and trimmed a little piece of fur so I could see what it was. It’s like a tiny, flattish, white, dust like bug that was going up and down the hair shaft. I quickly got his brother out the cage and checked him over too but couldn’t see anything on him.
Are these static mites? How do I treat them? And how have they got them? My friend said to bathe them but I’ve not tried that yet as I didn’t know what to use because they definitely don’t look like fleas.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Just to add I only saw the mites/lice this morning and I’ve only seen a few which I’ve managed to get off my piggy. But I want to make sure they’re all gone x

Thanks for the reply! I’m going to speak to my vet and see if they can get me something to use quickly before it spreads or gets worse x
