Billy had mites, and he has had the shampoo and melt from Gorgeous guineas put on his back, and his hutch has been cleaned out. The only problem is he has a few cuts/scabs on his back where he's tried to scratch it. Is there anything I can do to cover them, so that he doesn't scratch them more (after I put him back in his hutch he scratched it again a little bit, though not much) I just don't want him to keep scratching and biting at them and for them to get worse.

Have the mites been diganosed by a vet and has he had ivermectin treatment?

If Billy has had a clinical mite infestation than he really needs ivermectin - 3 treatments 10-4 days apart to break the mite cycle (plus associated hygiene cleaning the cage following each treatment before you put him back in)

After ivermectin treatment pggies can still scratch because the dead mites iritate them...hence where the GG shampoo comes in....and also it is a good routine preventative treatment.

You may need to change your hay as that is often a source of mites....and if Billy shows clinical signs it suggests he is slightly under the weather anyway so adding Vit C to his food will help boost his immune system.

Also you need to be aware that sometimes an "under-the-weather" piggie can develop both mites and fungal...either one preceding the other......or have both at the same time but only one gets diagnosed.
