I have two guinea pigs both boys One of them is having normal poop the other is having a mixture of light and dark poop they share the same diet which is a bunch of hay 1/8 cup of pellets each and one cup veggies for each of them usually has been romaine lettuce red lettuce parsley and then have slowly added different ones each day like peppers kale and or cucumber (some of these I don't really do a lot of cuz I know they're mostly made of water) but from what I've done research on it's saying for to back off veggies and I needed to know if this was the case? And for how long he's eating a lot of hay and drinking water as well and his behavior has been normal. Also the texture of the poop is the same as the regular poop it's not slimy nor stinks nor is soft I wasn't sure if this was the poop that they usually eat to get nutrients that is mostly from the veggies they eat after

I have deleted the post you made in forum technical assistance as that isn’t the right place for a health post.
This is the right place here - the health and illness section. The section is monitored by those of us with H&I badges in our signatures.
You said in the other version of the post you said that you weren’t getting responses. That is because this is a UK based forum and you posted in the middle of the night here in the UK. We will work to ensure all posts get a reply but you have to take the time difference into account and that we are all volunteers.

The poops look perfectly healthy. You do not need to worry and you do not need to remove veg from their diet as the poops are not soft.

Regarding the veg, the four veg they can eat sadly every day is cucumber, lettuce, bell pepper and cilantro.
Parsley and kale cannot be given every day as they are too high in calcium. You can give one small amount of one type but only once a week.

Piggies do not produce two different types of poop. You are thinking of caecotrophs but it has recently been proven that piggies do not produce them (but rabbits do). Piggies only produce one type of poop - the normal waste poop that you see around the cage and it is just those poops that they choose to eat some of for a second run through the gut.

Hi and welcome

Over three quarters of what a piggy eats in a day is hay/grass fibre.

Your poos are all healthy looking and no reason to worry. Poos containing more fresh food/veg tend to be darker; poos that consist mainly of hay/dry food can be a bit lighter. This colour variation is not unusual, as piggies don't eat fresh food all day and is nothing to worry about; but the natural colour variation in their poo output has been used in previous years for explaining the concept of poo eating in guinea pigs, erroneously following the example of rabbits.

However, recent research has shown that guinea pigs don't produce special poos for eating (caecotrophs; the digestive system in cavies (who are rodents) is a bit more primitive than in rabbits (who are lagomorphs and whose digestive system is closer to that of horses than to rodents; they produce special poos for redigestion in the caecum, the last fermentation chamber of the gut, hence the name for their redigested poos).
Guinea pigs simply eat part of their normal poos (they are therefore coprophages - 'poo eaters') and produce the same poos in both runs through the gut; the poos they eat therefore don't look any different.
