Hey everyone,
I know this question is probably been asked a million times, but which is better:
Solid Pellet Food, or a Mix of Pellet and Other Grain Food? I've heard both sides of the story and am leaning towards solid pellet food. But I wanted to ask everyone on here before I buy: which is preferred?
Thanks!
PepperPig

I use solid pellet food from pets@home for my piggy i found the mixed muesli/grains etc he would pick out bits he likes and wasted alot missing out on nutrients and wasting money

I use a pellet for all my 10 pigs - always have done. The best brands are Burgess, harringtons formerly known as wagg (ive been using wagg optimum pellets for about 5months now and my pigs love it) Oxbow, science selective - I'm sure there are other decent brands, those are the ones ive personally tried with all my pigs :)

Occasionally my lot get a sprinkling of a muesli over the top of their pellets - keeps things interesting for them and they love it as an occasional treat - far better than pet shop treats ;)

Hi sodapops

posting to a thread 2mins before me @) either you are following me (by checking what I'm doing on the forum) or you are a VERY good physic - knowing where i am posting before ive even posted!

And.......back to the original topic.....because that quite frankly is rather spooky/weird.....(and halloween is now over) :...:...:...

I used to give them just nuggets.. but then one time I bought the meusli too (not instead). I would mix in a small sprinkle, the girls would rummage through it and get the odd bit for fun.. and then throughout the night the rest of the nuggets would get munched up. Just a little extra variety without letting them get picky.

I feed Harringtons pellets and mine love it. I think pellets are better as they discourage selective feeding.

Okay, thank you for commenting everyone. I will switch to just pellets after all their other food has run out. :) Thanks for giving me a clear understanding of what's best for my piggy!

Mine have Harringtons pellets too and prefer these to Burgess or P@H. I buy mine from Amazon on Subscribe and Save. I have a massive sack delivered every 2 months, which works out perfectly for my 5 pigs, and because I sub to it, it co,e's automatically and I get it a bit cheaper. They do it with all sorts of products.

That's cool. I do think they have a little case of selective feeding! Ut-oh! But after we get the pellets they will eventually come out of that habit--right?
