hi guys

I've noticed that toffee and charlie hardly eats their pellets, and never have an empty bowl, i usually throw away the food once her and charlie poo in it, and then top it up, toffee is quite a small little piggie very slim, but not boney. I was wondering if this is why she is such a small piggie? She has a handful of museli mixed in with the pellets on a Saturday as a treat, and she loves it. do you think i should mix the two every day, or am i worrying too much, and leave it as it is? charlie is 6 months now and is already bigger than her. ( i know their sizes do vary, my other two are little chubsters)Thanks

I would give them less if you are throwing some out. If she's not eating the pellets there isn't really much point in giving them. You could try changing to a different pellet- most of mine dislike Burgess Supa Guinea (which is a little high in Protein for maintenance anyway) but do enjoy a bit of muesli occasionaly.

I switched mine to Cavy Cuisine last year, now they just have the occasional bowl of muesli but I never mix the two and they're fine with it. As long as the food doesn't contain colourings (even permitted ones) and your guineas aren't on a low calcium diet muesli is fine. Look at the ingredients list for E numbers- if there's any (or it says permitted colourings) avoid the food.

Some people on here say when their guineas wouldn't eat any other sort of dried food that they yummed down the Science Selective. Have a read through the reviews at the top of this forum, i found them very useful...

Some piggies are just mega fussy eh? Bless 'them ::)

mine love the science selective, but wouldnt touch the supa excel stuff..
