As you may of read from one of my previous posts i am going to make a large c&c cage for 1 male and several female piggies (not to breed). When i start off I will have my origional male and my origional female (both from different litters).

Will I be able to mix female members of different litters together or will they fight?

Thanks.

There is no assurance on this, it all depends on this and that pigs' individual characteristic to determine whether they'll fight, or not.
You'll see some bonding immediately, some will just avoid each other, and probably the dominant queen of each of your group would be trying to determine who would be the queen of the new herd. It really depends.

How many are you looking at bonding together?

I have an older pair of sows that are mother and daughter and have introduced three new pigs into their family. This has been done one piggie at a time though rather than creating a second group and trying to mix both.

My experience of this has been that each time the new pig has been happy to let Pinkie stay as the dominant one of the family however there is always the risk that your new pigs may never get on with your others. You have to be prepared for the possibility of having two cages rather than one big herd.

I have introduced as many as 5 new females into group. I normally place newest members in a cat carrier and put them in run with door shut. Wait and watch new members reaction. And then when I think is right time add lots of food and open the door. Either new members will come out or original girls will go in. Then just watch and wait. And let them sort themselves out if not serious fighting.
Hope this helps.

I have slowly increased my group from two unrelated girls to a neutered boar and four girls. All of my pigs are unrelated and only two are a similar age.

I would suggest that you maybe take your neutered boy and girl to your local rescue so they can pick out their own new friends themselves :) This is less likely to result in any fall out in the long run ;)

Please remember that boys need about six weeks after their operation before they can move in with any girls though ;)
