Mixing Guinea Pigs?

Hi.
My eldest daughter has moved home with 2 new additions to our family, Freddie and Henry are near 12 months old, both recently been neutered, in an outside living space. Youngest daughter now has 2 female pigs of 13 weeks old, currently living indoors with a plan to move outside soon. Yesterday we put them all together in the run for the first time with a wire devide to start to get to know. They seems ok, in fact Maybel squeezed through to the boys!
Can anyone give me advice on how and when's best to mix them. We have a huge outdoor space with play house awaiting them all!

Please be aware that boys need to have been neutered for 6 weeks before they are safe to go with girls, otherwise they can still get pregnant!

I also do not believe two boys will go with two girls without fighting
 
Hello :) Welcome to the forum!

it is not a good idea to have more than one boy with sows they will more than likely fall out and fight over the girls even when neutered. You stand a chance of having broken bonds on your hands

Also boys need to have been neutered for I think 6 weeks before coming into contact with girls, hopefully nothing occurred yesterday - naughty Maybel!

Yes I'm aware of the 6 weeks apart, as soon as the female made it into the male side of the run we separated them.
We were advised by pet place that girls would be better than boys to mix as boys are very territorial and would fight with girls, Also said a girl and boy mix was the best mix for pigs?
Very new to this and what to do what's best for them all.

I mean fight with other boys now that they are nearly a year old?
I do keep getting mixed advice?

Cool :) Glad you n=know about the 6 weeks lots of differing advice out there and it is always best to err side of caution :)

Piggy groupings are as follows

Two boys will get along fine

Two girls will or more than two girls....

One boy and a girl is good

One boy and many females in a herd is good also

Never try more than two boys together it rarely works and does two boys with females.

Can you leave them in there original pairings?
 
Be lovely to see some photos of your piggies, what are their names?
 
Just to completely confuse you (sorry! :woot:) I have 3 sows and 2 boars in together. They are fine :D. The boys are brothers though and had a really strong bond before going in with the girls so that may have something to do with it

A bit more confusion is fine! ‍♀️
Our boars have a very good and close bond too, the sows are still bit timid so we are spending as much time with them as we can.
When they were in their run, with the divide they were quite happy to sniff and play around. They didn't look aggressive?

Really appreciate all the support guys!

What ages how long had to had them all before they went it together?
