Does anybody mix their pigs pellets with anything else? I know of some people who mix them with oats and redigrass etc. My pigs go through fazes of not really eating their blackcurrent burgess pellets. I'd like to make them more interesting if possible. I've tried other brands which they just don't like!

Any suggestions would be very helpful :)

Have you tried a different brand of nugget? After a recommendation by Guinea Pig Slave some months back, my 9 are currently on Harringtons optimum pellets and they love them - always empty bowls in this house, they are about the same size/shape as the burgess blackcurrent and oregano ones.

Occassionally (like once a month or so) i put a handful of muesli in their bowls (the one i buy is small bag from sainsburys, it looks a lot like gerty guinea pig muesli with bits of dried grass in it) - they go nuts for this.

I don’t like to mix my nuggets but every now and then i treat the pigs to a separate bowl of fibafirst as i love it but it’s just a bit too expensive to feed my greedy boys on all the time.

lol i had a full sized box sent to me when those first came out and my lot crushed them up and peed over them - threw over half a box away.....

My lot have however had thye science selective nuggets before and they loved them - my only problem is that i have to order them online and at £20+ for a 10KG bag, it can get quite costly - i pay around £14 per 10KG bag for my harringtons and i never have any waste....

My lot also love Harringtons. Rosie had been on wagg museli since a baby and is now 7, I changed her onto the harringtons a few months after we adopted our other girls last year and have never looked back. I decided to try them with some burgess excel with mint nuggets as a treat and they like those as well. They just get a small handful of burgess mixed in with their normal pellets which gives them a bit more to crunch. They seem to like to crunch them at night as I'm trying to get to sleep ;)
I found mixing with dried herbs / readigrass just encourages them to ignore the pellets and munch that instead.
