Mmmm Mealworms, Yummy.

So I got some mealworms today. Sadly the pet store I was passing didn’t have any dried ones so I had to get live. Of course I got asked about “my reptiles” and had to explain that these were actually for the rats as it’s a delicious source of extra protein. The guy looked at me a little strangely and then shrugged and said “actually that does make sense, I never thought of that.”

So now I am sat here watching a few mealworms being crunched. I admit I don’t like to touch the live ones they are just nasty! Rats don’t care though.

My gerbils love live insects too! Live mealworms, wax worms, locusts. Obviously as a treat but so nice to watch them hunt them down!
