Heya

I bought these seeds to grow your own grass for your guinea pigs, and I grew it to about 10cm now but there seems to be a tiny bit of mold on the soil in the plate.

It's hard to notice, but it's definitely there, tiny white cobweb-like structures. I haven't given my guinea pigs any of this yet. Should I just throw it out and get a new one, or is this relatively harmless?

Thanks!

Hrm, this is a debatable point, moulds can be toxic/irritant and therefore can pose a danger and the spores will probably be spread across the whole pot even if there's only a tiny bit visible. It doesn't necessarily mean it would do any harm though, it's your decision really. It would be difficult to do with grass but to get rid of the mould you can take the top couple of inches of soil away (do it outside), wash the grass off and replace the soil with fresh potting compost. The other thing is where have you got it growing? I'm assuming it's inside, it sounds like you may need to move it to a sunnier windowsill and give it less water. Molds like warm, moist, stagnant conditions (with little airflow). You may find just changing the conditions causes the mould to go away. :)
