So I bought my piggies some of this image.webp

I've been growing it for a few days and it's starting to sprout nicely. However I've just noticed that there's white fluffy mold growing in it  As I say, I've only been growing it for a few day (4 or 5 days) and I've looked online and saw it is common that the mold can grow. However, I'm just wondering whether it's still safe for the pigs to eat if I wash it before feeding it to them? The mold is growing in the wood/compost thing that the grass is growing in and not actually on the stems of grass

this happened to mine too ! I just made sure the grass i fed them was from the very top so had not been near the mouldy bits x

:D I bought one of those, but the grass didn't grow. Do you have to put the seeds in a different compost or something? :hmm:

Haha no! I was surprised how fast it started to grow. I've just been watering it and it's growing great! The only problem is the mold in the compost thing (I don't quite know what to call it as it's not compost- but then again I don't know what it is)

Here is the grass after a few daysimage.webp

And here is the mould

I'm wanting to give them some to eat now but unsure because of the mould?

:D That's why I asked about the compost. The stuff that the seeds come in looks like tiny bits of cork. Surely nothing can grow in that?! Your grass looks very healthy. would just do as you said and wash it before feeding it to them.
I didn't get a single blade come up! :td:

How bizarre. Where did you put the tray? I've kept mine on the window ledge so it's getting the sun

:DI put mine on the kitchen windowsill where I get the sun in the afternoon. It said to put it in a warm, light place, didn't it?

I didn't read it to be honest haha. I just watered it, stuck it on the windowsill and hoped for the best haha. Strange yours didn't grow thoufh

:D I don't know why I bothered with it really! I've got a lawn-full of long grass out the back! I can go and cut a handful whenever I want! :)) (unless my friend Ron has sneaked in and mowed it for me!)
