thanks everyone, ive just got back from the vets and its not good news

i feel like such a bad mummy how didn't i notice ): ): shes got an abess on the side of her face and the infection might have spread to her lungs
but because shes lost some weight (i thought it was due to her age 4.5) its more noticable

the vet didnt think there was much hope but they've kept her in over night to drain it and get fluid into her body but if by tomrow theres no improvement then she'll be pts ):my eyes are stinging i just keep crying

sorry to hear that hopefully the antibiotics will have some effect. Is it really that far gone they are not going to try for a bit longer? ?/ poor girl don;t beat yourself up these things can come on really quickly and aren't always easy to spot x

I am so sorry about the bad news!

It is difficult to see if an abscess is growing inwards rather than outwards where it can be lanced and be treated., so I do not think that you are a bad mum.

Fingers crossed for Molly!

Sorry don't mean to sound grumpy just thought as she has only become really poorly overnight there must be a good chance of her pulling through doesn't it take 24 hours for antibiotics to work? Syringe feeds, fluid must help? :{ just don't want them giving up on her too quickly but then I know you won't want her to suffer . sorry not being much help mallethead big hugs x

I'm not sure the vet just wasnt very optimistic because it looks like the infections spread to her lungs and could be leading to phemonia (sorry imnot the best at spelling)

so there keeping her in tonight and then ill see how she is tomrow but she was in a really bad way ):

Sorry hun :( I went through this with my piggie Paul before I got a decent vet (not suggesting your vet isn't) or joined the forum I just think what if I'd know this before etc... He wasn't put to sleep but the vet took him in he had been poorly for a bit longer than molly but I suppose I got the impression they just wrote him off which is a bit cynical but they didn't even advise me to give him critical care to build him up or anything and I didn't know what to feed him when he stopped eating for a good few days. then we took him back in and he was really poorly. If we'd got him there at the stage Molly is now (i.e still eating recently) he would have had a really good chance I think which is why I am trying (and failing) to be positive for her and you . sorry if I'm not being helpful but thinking of you keep us posted. x

I am thinking of you Shauna and Molly.

I have just lost one of my piggies today, and I just want to say I didn't give up on him even right at the end. Please give her a chance, I know it might seem kinder to have her pts but please give her chance to respond to the antibiotics. I syringe fed Yorkie for over 3 weeks now, and if i hadn't have done i know he would have died 3 weeks ago.

I am thinking of you Molly, sending my love.

Amy and Dave (the piggy)
