Annie and Frazzle have lived together for about 3 1/2 years (Neutered male and female)

They've never been very lovey dovey but they've got along.

I have noticed twice in the last couple of months they've fallen out. It's hard to tell what's happening - but I think Frazzle is 'bugging' Annie and she snaps.

Frazzle has currently got his second boo boo on his nose.. nothing serious looks like he's just been nipped by her.

Is this normal? They're not fighting I think she just gets fed up of him. I've seen him nibbling on her ears too..

Ear nibbling is also called power grooming - it is essentially the friendliest dominance gesture, but occasionally it can go overboard. it sounds like the two of them are having a bit of a dominance dispute. I may be that Annie is developing small, but growing ovarian cysts which can mae her a bit more aggressive and that could account for the change in their relationship.

They might be acting like that because they need a little space. Sometimes piggies just need a break. I wouldn't get too worried about it, but if it starts to get too aggressive you should separate them.
