I have two guinea pigs named Petunia and Igby. I have had them for about two months and I thought all was well. In the first week there was the normal dominance behaviors and that faded over time, except for this month. Igby was always the dominant one but Petunia is literally going crazy with growling and rumbles rutting. It might be hormones but it never stops, there is no 16 day chill time. Igby might be sleeping in a hideout and then Petunia walks by and growls until Igby wakes up and then she goes away and Igby goes to sleep again. In the hay bale there is more growling and Petunias fur on the back of her neck go upwards. I am buying a new cage for a bigger space, two Midwest guinea plus habitat and adding them together. Would having a bigger space help? I dont really want to take them apart because I can most definitely not get new guinea pigs to replace them, four pigs is a no no for me. I am getting the cages in 4 days. Should I just put Petunia and Igby in different cages to see if they chill out or would that ruin their friendship? Another thing is, when I take Igby out of their cage Petunia freaks out. She makes tons and tons of noises so I dont know why shes acting all rude. Maybe I'm overreacting but I just want to make sure all is well.

Is petunia just entering her teenage phase or does she not like Igby? If she doesn't like Igby what should I do.

If it turns out that Petunia and Igby just don't get on at all, you can have Petunia in one cage and Igby in the other and then make sure the cages are next to each other so that they can see and chat to each other and still have stimulation through the bars. It could well be that when they have more space they are happier together. The more space you can give piggies the better.
