More Blood! Help?!

I wondered if anyone can help me? After my boy Roger being on recovery food and antibiotics for about 2weeks now, trying to recover from weightloss,ad blood in his urine, there is STILL blood! He's eating his recovery food and starting to eat veggies again (only tiny amounts) but as he is an old boy the vet didn't recommend scans ect as he probs wouldn't make it through the GA. The vet couldn't see or feel any stones, but I'm very worried he isn't getting better. Ive filled his cage with lots of snuggly vet bed (which I change daily) and fleeces so he stays comfortable. Is there anything else I can do? Thanks in advance.

You need to try possibly a different AB, i would also look at finding a vet who can do a concious xray

Could you get your vet to do an x-ray without GA? Most piggies will sit still or even lay still on their side in the middle of a room, as their instinct is telling to be immobile when exposed in a strange place. At least then you will know what is going on and can make any decisions accordingly.

What antibiotic is Roger on? Make sure that he is getting some painkiller.

I hope Roger gets better soon, does he have a urine infection?

Some UTIs can recur once the antibiotics run out. It's also possible he has a stone that can lead to recurrent infections and bleeding. Can they x-ray him while he is awake? Sundae had conscious x-rays- I know it's hard to get them to sit still, but it only takes a minute. My vet puts them in a shoebox (with little room to move and no way to bolt) and x-rays them through the box, it worked with Sundae and she is quite skittish with the vet!

Just to add, you could also request a urine culture to check for antibiotic sensitivities. Some infections will be resistant to certain antibiotics, and he may need a different one.

He is on metacam and baytril. he seems more himself over the last couple of days, eating a lot more but theres still blood. The vet said if he has an xray they still wouldn't be able to operate if they found anything. just trying to make him as comfortable and happy as possible. He's doing well

It may be worth seeking a second opinion if this carries on Bladder Stones can be detected via xray and removed safely by experienced vets..
