More eye problems

I used advice given to me to help with a piggies cloudy eye and its cleared it up and is fine now.

But unfortunately my other piggies eye seems to have developed a problem. She's a very jumpy piggie and seems to be blind in the eye aswell.

The vets are fully booked for weeks and are looking nearly 300£ for a emergency appointment. But with how things are we can't afford it atm.

Is there any type of eye problems that can spread?
We are hoping the home treatment we are doing will work.
This is soo frustrating because in normal circumstances we could of had her at the vets in a few days

I will be honest and say I wouldn't risk home treatments with an eye problem. Not without proper diagnosis at least.
Is it possible to ask if you can at least send the vet a photo?
Could it be a hay poke?
It might be worth calling and asking other vets if they can see her, as an eye problem can become serious quite quickly and does require immediate attention. As vets are only seeing emergencies at the moment I don't know how they can claim they are booked up for weeks?

Please don’t do anything yourself at home with an eye.

Vets are still seeing animals for appointments. Eyes are classed as urgent, that is true, but vets are seeing urgent cases but it doesn’t mean they are charging emergency/out of hours prices. My local vet won’t see you for a nail clip for example, but they would see for an eye injury during normal surgery hours, will only be charging normal surgery consultation fees, not emergency out of hours fees.

The problem with vets around here is they are booked up for a few weeks. And because of restrictions ect. The process is going alot slower. I'm on a cancellation list with about 20 other people

Definitely agree a vet is needed ASAP, eye injuries need treating very quickly.
Would your vet not do an over the phone/video call appt, I had one (about my cat) a couple of weeks ago and I know other people have sent pics by email etc to vets if they can’t be seen urgently?
I paid £25 to speak to my vet and described Rosie’s symptoms etc (think lots of vets are offering this) and if the vet thought she needed to be seen then I’d have to take her and they’d refund the £25 and I’d have to pay the usual appointment fee.

yes she absolutely needs to see a vet. it could be ulceration and if it is then it is likely to be painful

Got a hold of a vet. Had to pay over the phone then send them pictures via Facebook messenger. Then they are going to ring me back later with treatment plan..

Me too. It will probably be eye drops which I hate trying to give them. Because they are hard to catch and scream when you pick them up.

Try not to stress, much better to get some eye drops now which cause a bit of trouble than more serious stuff in the future. Wrapped in a towel etc it’s not too bad to get the drops in, even if they’re troublemakers like my Pedro! x

Well the vets rang my GF and said they think it's conjunctivitis. So we have to separate her from the others.

I have to agree with Claire. It looks like ulceration (likely from a haypoke). I am not sure that separation is a good idea either.

Isathal is the treatment for haypoke ulceration anyway so it is still the right thing to give. I wouldn’t separate though.

The only issue is that without a hands on check under dye then you won’t know if there is still something in the eye

This is her eye now. Bad picture but trying to catch her was stressful so didn't want to annoy her.

It looks abit cleaner I'd say also its abit wetter around her eye where the fur is.

Shes happy being back with the gang at least.

And unfortunately she seems to be blind in the eye. But hopefully some sight returns when it clears up.
