I have been researching like crazy and using your list of veg and fruit as a guide. I gave my pigs parsley yesterday because it's on the list and now I see in a forum post that parsley should only be given occasionally! So I guess the food list is not the only source I need - I also need to know quantities and frequencies.

I know they need 1 cup of veg per pig per day. I understand most of that should be leafy like kale, romaine etc. But I am worried about getting them enough vit c, too. Maybe if I could get some members to give me specifics of what/when they feed I can get a better idea of what is recommended?

Any and all food advice appreciated! My piggies thank you! :)

I find a slice of bell pepper (green and yellow) are good for vitamin C.

I mainly rotate the following: baby corn, red cabbage, cauliflower leaves and stems, greens, broccoli stems, sugar snap peas, courgette, peeled celery, cucumber skin, strawberries, watercress, green, orange and red peppers, coriander. Then in moderation: thyme, basil, cherry tomatoes, parsley, carrot, apple and spinach.

I base it mainly on what I have in, they don't all like all of it but there's plenty they do like and alongside hay and the vit-c enriched nuggets I think they have a good balance.

Wow I never met a piggy who liked courgette!

I feed a slice of pepper, half a slice of cucumber and some chopped celery daily. If you want to feed a fresh herb daily, then a sprig of coriander/cilantro is the one to go for.

Most of the others are OK to feed 2-3 times a week (including a sprig of parsley or one of the other herbs) as part of a mix. I just vary between them and feed 2-3 different veg or herbs from that list every day. Everything in moderation and in a mix is the key word.
Kale, spinach and Asian cabages are very high in calcium and should therefore figure on a diet only about once or twice a month.

The trick is to work out a mix that is both available and practical to manage for you. That takes a bit of trial and error. No piggy is going to fall ill if they get a big portion of parsley once, for instance.
