Guinea-Tia-Flossie

OK, my mum has just come home and told me something very weird.

Yesterday as some of you know my rabbit Welsh died. She was an indoor rabbit and live right next to my 3 indoor guineas. Now usually when we rustle a bag or open the fridge they squeak squeak squeak! (you know what they're like) BUT.....

Yesterday, When my rabbit died, i was sat crying with her in her cage (near the guineas) for about 15 minutes and then my bf took me out to cheer me up. And i was just told that ALL afternoon and night, the guineas never made one sound.

Mum tested them out by rustling extra loud in the fridge, but they made no noise, and didn't even come out of their boxes to see what she was rustling at!

It's like they were paying their respects to Welsh!

How weird is that?!?! :o They never saw her, but some how they new what has just happened.

They are back to their usuall squeaky selves now though!

:o thats weird.. but they always seem to know when somthing isnt right... sorry about your bunny :(

its funny that, because when one of our piggies died even though she died inside, the whole shed was silent for a day or so,like they knew :-\

if only we could fully understand animals - i'm sure their emotions are a lot more complex than we realise! sorry that your poor bunny passed away. :'(

i agree, some people think they are the only inteleginent creature, but the thing is, we arent animals so how do we know. the piggies were probably startled by you being upset. but you never know!

Schmichael my little house rabbit used to spend a lot of time sitting by Badger's cage. It was like he was guarding him. Whenever I went out he would go straight to sit by him as soon as he saw me pick my keys up. He used to do the same when i went to bed at night. Now that Badger is no longer here :'( Schmichael seems really upset. He keeps looking round the room in all the places Badger would run to if he was out on the lounge floor. He has become extremely clingy to me and follows me everywhere. I am sure he realises that Badger has gone and he seems scared that I will just disappear too. :(

I am so sorry about your bunny. :'(

I remember as a teen going into the shed and all my piggies were quite and yes one had died :( as it had been removed they were back to noise.

Sorry to hear about the Rabbit

when Coco died, biscuit hasnt been herself, she never talks in her old popcorn, i havent heard her popcorn in a while, she doesnt like many guinea pigs near her, she only accepted Coco to cuddle up too. Shes been different ever since.

It's amazing but animals do understand our feelings, my cat was like this when our dog went to the bridge, she was devastated too :'(
RIP Welsh you'll be very sadly missed by your mummy :'( :'( :-* :-*

so sorry to hear about your darling bunny, I dont think us mere humans give animals enough credit for their emotions and how they do suffer when a run mate or dear friend dies, I've seen it plenty of times when one of my pigs dies the whole shed goes quite and I feeel are respectful of their loss, a run mate rellay do miss their lost friend sometimes I have found them lying on their dead partner to keep them warm only moving when I realise they are dead and am now able to care for them, animals are far more intelligent then we give them credit for of that I'm certain

Beautifully put Michelle :-* :-* :-* and how true :(

I am utterly convinced of all of this. Animals feel all the emotions we do including grief.

I think that they truly understand us and feel emotions just like us, and understand what were saying...
I was just doing wilsons pawprints onto some paper and told him please dont move... the lil sweatie stayed as still as he could for me :)
