Bacon is VERY underweight compared to Sprite. He is older than Sprite and has a triangularish roundish head, and a very sturdy, but fragile body. Is it natural to be underweight at 2 1/2 years, or is he not eating enough?

The best thing to do is weigh him so we can assess if he is underweight. If you weigh your piggies regularly it helps to alert you to any illness as when they lose a lot of weight it usually indicates an illness.

It's a bit difficult to take bacon out of his cage, but I'll try to weigh him when he's happier.

Did you recently get Bacon? If so he may not have been on the best diet before getting to you. Keep an eye on him to make sure Sprite does not eat his share of vegetables!

You should weigh piggies weekly that way you can spot weightloss quickly before it goes too far. Also regular handling help you know the "feel" of your pig. I can normally tell if mine have lost weight or gained by just picking them up (then checked with scales)

If you think he is losing weight please weigh him daily and keep a note of his weights.

if you can give us an idea of weight that would help too!
