So, today was the first day I gave the girls their spot check in their new C&C cage....

Climb in and kneel down to get to the poops in the corner and have a good sweep, and the next thing I know - I have this little furry head poking between my knees! Daisy had decided that crawling between my legs would be the perfect hidey hole. I looked down and she looked up as if to say 'hi mum!'

I carry on, and Cookie decides to join her?!?!?

Stop to give them a quick stroke, turn around and Snowdrops climbed into the dustpan.......

They are so much more interactive with me in their new cage, and the clean this morning (though it took longer!) - was so much fun :D

Only a silly little story, but it made me smile so much! Do your piggies help you with the cleaning?

Aww thats lovely, Lacey loves it when I clean the cage for some reason, very nosy and loves the dustpan, Darcy has no interest lol

Mine only by chewing holes in the bin bag so all the messy bedding comes out again....

Yours are evident;ly much better trained!

Pip who died at the beginning of this year was allowed to sit on the floor next to me while I cleaned out his cage, but when I wasn't looking he'd take lumps out of the bin liner rolleyes

It's great that they can interact with you like that and "help" :))

With the boys I have now, I foolishly had them on the sofa the first time I cleaned them out, I shook out the bin liner turned round and only had one pig, poor Henry had shot over the arm of the sofa and was hiding in the corner. They sit in a box upstairs now when I clean them out.

Only one of my piggies 'helps' (she was a therapy/public piggy who represented the rescue at events and stuff so she is very friendly!). She likes to get in the way, sit on the dustpan when it's full of shavings and hay that I need to get in the cleaning tub and generally ALWAYS has to know what you're up to!

I have a couple more that are happy to follow me and keep an eye to make sure I'm doing it right... but Leah is my little helper.

Yes they are very inquisitive creatures aren't they, they like it when you're doing your job properly! :))

When they're not absconding with the dustpan brush, Cashman often likes to come over and 'read' the paper (aka sit right on top of the open fold just as I'm about to start lining their cage).

Little things like that is what makes piggies so special...

Aww, bless them! Yup, when i used to clean out the girls in their cage their head would be in everything! :))

:(|) The herd of six girlies takes me the longest as Phoebe insists on sitting on my hand, the second I rest I my hand on the base, she's there :{ Amelia, the oldest of the group has to inspect every corner during clean outs, swear she's making sure it's ok for the others - proper little mother hen x) They usually sit waiting patiently in the hay box until I've finished then it's a mad 5 minute popcorn followed by lots of poops :x

Moonpig and Yoshi always want to have a good look at the dustpan and Rocket always pops up to the hayloft when I've just emptied it to see how things are going " When are you going to put fresh hay in Mummy?! Hurry up! Wheeeeee's waiting!".
The other day I left the brush on the corner of the hayloft while I cleaned downstairs and Moonpig started wheeking - she sounded quite cross, I took the brush away and she stopped immediately " About time Mummy! Get your act together! " :(|)

My boars wait, and wait, and wait and sometimes come to see if I am ready yet. .. Tipically males: no help at all!

My girls do the exact same thing when I'm cleaning their cage, Phoebe has a cheeky chew of the dustpan brush and Paislee tries to knock the bin full of poos over!

My Wexford likes to help out during our daily hoover duties (or so he thinks he's helping) - he makes out he's not interested then will suddenly popcorn in front of where I'm hoovering - there have been a couple of close shaves where he's very nearly been sucked up the hoover :)) He runs away and comes back again - almost likes he's inspecting the cage, everywhere ive just hoovered he will sniff and popcorn several times rolleyes

When he was bonded with his first wife - everytime i got the hoover out - if i hoovered near where she was he would instantly go over and check on her - he must have thought i'd hoovered her up :))

Two of my other boys will sit in their litter tray on their mezzanine level as soon as the hoover comes out - Shadow even knows when i'm done because i tell them 'it's all done now' and he will come down straight away (closely followed by Elvis) and they run around sniffing and popcorning for about 20mins :))

My new girl Rio has been a monster when it comes to cleaning. First 3 weeks being here she drank loads and weed loads all over the fleece instead of in the hay/litter area which gets a more regular clean. Now she seems a bit more litter trained but she now goes around nibbling up any poos and leaving half eaten poo crumbs all over the fleece making it much harder to get rid of them. {:|
