Argh. Okay, so Sprout’s right eye. He’s got a cataract and a bit of fatty/pea eye going on, but neither of those factors bother him. This morning however...fed the boys at breakfast, and Sprout’s eye was fine. Checked on them an hour and half later...it was really cloudy, as if something was irritating it. Sprout being Sprout, however, was showing absolutely no signs of anything bothering him. I know if Spud has something in his eye, since he starts shaking his head in a very dog-like manner, but Sprout shows no reaction whatsoever!

Pulled Sprout out, and sat him on the living room table to get a good look. Couldn’t see anything at first, but then spotted a thin piece of hay on the surface of his eye. Removing it took some doing, since he really wasn’t keen on having my fingers anywhere near his eye!

Managed to get it out. Luckily it was quite a soft strand, and also luckily, I’d booked him in for a general health check at the vets today, so was able to get medicine for him. Spend my last few quids on him, but don’t care about that. Just glad I noticed something wasn’t right!

By the way, he’s not at all sorry for all the fuss he’s caused!

They are such a stress at times, glad you found the piece of hay. Sending him lots of recovery vibes x

Aah bless him, thank god you noticed and got it out quickly and the vet check was already planned! Hope he’ll be ok :)
My Jess is the same as Spud as goes a bit mad with her head shaking and rubbing at it, had a huge strand sticking out of her eye a couple of months ago bless her, thankfully I noticed pretty quickly but could’ve ended much worse!

Thank you. They are indeed.

Hopefully he’ll be fine. The eye is still pretty watery and irritated, but he’s opening it a bit, so he probably will be ok!
