hi Guys
I am sure I read somewhere that moss is poisonous to guinea pigs. Is this true? The reason is a recent batch of hay had some moss in it, its lovely hay so I have tried to pick the moss out where possible but its impossible to get it all. The guineas have left it alone anyway but I want to know if I was worrying unnecessarily?

Any one know?

I'm sure I've seen that moss is not good for guineas somewhere on this forum, it was mentioned in the context of someone's lawn, but went on to say they won't usually eat it anyway. I don't think you were worrying unnecessarily and you did the right thing to pick it out.

Thanks guys! Good to have that confirmed. I am spending the whole summer treating the lawn to remove the moss which was everywhere. It means no grazing for the Guineas until the autumn but it will be worth it. Pleased that it's the right thing to do. I also just got a new batch of hay and NO MOSS! Phew.
