Hi I am just wandering if piggies moult constantly or at certain times? Seem to be noticing more hairs than usual lately!:^-

Some piggies can moult occasionally.

Keep an eye out that the hairloss is evenly all over the body and not connected with itchiness or bald patches, which could indicate a skin parasite or fungal problem.

If it has been hot, it's possible. I also noticed that when winter takes too long, some pigs suddenly shed a lot for a day or 2-3, to get rid of the winter fur, as they give up on getting summer heat at some point. Well, their hair gives up, as hairs do stop growing after a while and then end up being shed. It should however not last longer than 2-3 days. Then other issues have to be looked into, like skin issues, parasites, diseases, etc.

They seem to shed a small amount constantly as far as I can tell from the front of my jumper after cuddles!

They will change a bit with the seasons but any patches of hair loss or generalised thin coat or coat in poor condition needs looked at by a vet as often an early sign of illness is a poor coat and patchy hair loss could be caused by many problems from fungal infection to hormonal issues and more.

Two of mine always shed more than usual when the weather starts getting warm. Every time I stroke them or pick them up my hands come away covered in fur. Probably a good idea to keep an eye out for bald or thinning patches of hair though.
