My girl coco is sick at the moment, she is skin and bones and doesn’t particularly want to move too much, but cinnamon her partner i am assuming is in season, and if coco is not hiding she will follow her around the cage to mount her, I'm aware this is normal behaviour, but due to cocos illness she’s rather weak and having a 1kg pig on her back clearly hurts, she squeals when cinnamon does it, is there any way for me to get cinnamon to stop this behaviour? i don’t want to sleep on the offhand chance she goes too far and fight stars or coco gets hurt

should i put a barrier between their cage? cinnamon won’t leave her alone

I’m sorry that coco is sick. What’s making her sick? How old are your piggies and how long have they been living together? How strong is their bond?

My girls go into season for a couple of days. You know your piggies the best. If you feel separating them for a couple of days wouldn’t affect their bond then why not? If they never had a strong bond it can be taking a chance with their bond. Generally girls are nice and friendly.

Good luck

I’ve seen your post about her illness. I hope she is ok.

It’s important to be aware that squeaking during dominance behaviours does not mean pain. A squeal is a sign of submission. The squeaking sow is telling her partner she accepts her partner’s dominance.

If you wish to do a temporary separation then you could but do be aware that such separations can cause bond problems and if you are potentially misinterpreting the squeaking then a separation may not be necessary.
If you do separate then you would need to go through the neutral territory rebonding process to reintroduce them.
