For years I've dreaded the inevitable passing of my beloved guinea pig, Caillou Nibbles. I watched him mature from an outgoing, rambunctious little kernel popping everywhere to an old piggy with a strong will to live...but whose body was deteriorating rapidly.
Caillou was almost eight when paralysis abruptly set in. Up until then, he had a normal appetite but wasn't as active or alert as he had once been. For two long, agonizing days, I fed, watered, and manually emptied his bowels. On Saturday, September 2, he was euthanized. I'm devastated. (I was disappointed to realize just how apathetic some people are regarding guinea pigs.) I miss that lil dude but I'm relieved he is no longer suffering.

Just try and remember all the good times you had together and that he lived to a ripe old age. x
Gone to the Rainbow Bridge, bless. xx

Sorry to hear of your loss. May god bless you and your pig

I'm so sorry for your loss- it is very hard to loose a guinea pig and more so I think when it's your very first one. As said above, remember the happy memories of your little guy and take comfort in the fact you helped stop his suffering. X

I'm very sorry to hear. When I was 8 I got my first Guinea pig. She was always ill and constantly got pneumonia. When she passed I was so sad. It'll be okay. He'd want you to live on remembering him, and giving another piggy a good life. Best wishes from my piggies to you!

Your post made me cry. You obviously loved him very much, and cared for him very well for him to get to such a ripe old age. So sorry for your loss, console yourself with the knowledge you gave him the best life.
