Hi

I was wondering if anyone had any experience of moving inside guinea pigs to an outside living space. We currently have 4 guinea pigs inside on fleece bedding in c&c cages. We have recently converted our large summer house into a guinea pig house, it is insulated and has electricity for fans and heating. We have 6 rescues in there in a very large space. After seeing the rescue outside I am wondering if its a better set up for my indoor Guineas as they would have more space and have access to an outdoor run. I would be keeping all sets separate so would not be attempting to bond them all! Had anyone transferred guinea pigs from fleece to shavings with success? And from indoors to outdoors?

Thanks!

Hi, I have moved mine from inside to outside a couple times.
It would be best to do it on a warm day, so the change in temperature is not too much. If it will be cooler it would be best to sit with them in a cooler room to help regulate the temperature change before completely moving them outside.
If you have everything set up and safe for them to live in, I do not see why this would pose any issue. I doubt you would see much change in them from the bedding, as long as your shavings are dust extracted and you spot clean twice daily to remove wet patches, especially with so many piggies.

Good luck with the move, let us know how you get on x
I will attach a couple guides that you may find nice to read through if you wish.
