Hi all, we are thinking of moving the 2 guinea pigs we have into the utility room from the play room where they are now. The utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer in it so I wondered if the noise would bother them? I moved them into the room recently due to their current room being painted and they basically hid in the hay for 3 days. This was without the machines being on so I assume they were adjusting to new sounds. I don't want to upset them so wanted some advice from those in the know before making any plans. We are also planning to get a puppy soon and they will be more separate from it in the utility room. They are 2 sows age 3.

They maybe abit too out the way in the utility room and not get as much attention. Also i'd imagine spin cycles being very scary and stressful. You could always put a lock on the outside of the door to their old room so it can be locked behind you. That what we have so the cats cant get into the pigs/hammys room, it was just a cheap bathroom latch lock and does the trick.

I would not have them in the same room as a washing machine. The vibrations would scare them.
