I've noticed Ginny's been shaking his head (in the motion dogs do when they're wet) twice each time for a few days. Got him out now and he just twitched (though not sure if that would be the right expression) his head to the left. Mites? Can't see anything on his fur that's unusual. How do I identify ear mites? Admittedly, I do need to clean his ears out but usually have the hotel I board him at come and do it.

I've read the guide on ear cleaning but feel very nervous I'll damage something delicate.

I would get him checked over at the vet if you are concerned. I wouldn't clean the ears myself as canals are very delicate x

Thanks :) I won't do it myself. If it sounds ok, I'm having the hotel boarders come over first as the two girls need their ears cleaning I think too. One of them is also is in veterinary. I know it doesn't replace a vet, I'll be taking him there after. Only recently went to the vet with Ginny for a checkup a few days ago, worried he's getting exasperated with me and won't take me seriously (as my own gp has done before).
Is there any way to identify ear mites?

Take a video of it on phone so they can see it happening would be my recommendation. I don't know ear mites signs sorry.

@CarnivalPiggy I wouldn't self medicate, and would take them to the vet. That's what they're there for, and we pay for it, so don't feel silly for going too often.

Taking a video of it to show the vet is a great idea. One of my boys had a neurological issue and I managed to get a video of it. The vet was very glad of the video as he was back to normal by the time we got to the vet.

Thanks :) I'm going to make a vet appt. I'm just wondering if it's ear mites or something else as its only to his left that he twitches his head

I'm fairly convinced it's an ear problem. I looked in his ears today and saw something incredibly small and somewhat round. He has developed small crusts around his eyes, however and I'm not sure if I'm imagining the hair loss around his eyes, old age or other. I thought it was ringworm transferred from the new arrivals, but checked them over and saw no hair loss or other symptoms. I know it develops in other ways like stress or randomly, but I am fairly sure it's an ear problem/mites. I am going to make a vet appt, but just worried it might be misdiagnosed.
