We're moving house in a few weeks. The hutch and run are going in the removal van and I will move my 2 guineas in the car. This will involve a journey of several hours and will also have husband and daughter in the same car. When I've taken the guineas on short journeys, I've used a cardboard box with plenty of hay but this won't be suitable for long journey and possibly one or even two overnights before everything is unloaded.
Any general advice or suggestions would be helpful:)
Thank you so much.

If I need to travel with mine I have cages and I have two piggies per cage and put the usual pigloo's, hay etc in and they're fine (have only done a 2 hour journey with them though and they were only in tha cage overnight)

The travel carriers made for cats and small dogs are really useful. I've moved house too many times to count with the pigs - some fairly short (1 hour) journeys, some spaced over a couple of days of travelling and overnight stops (SE England to Northern Ireland!).

For overnights, you could either use a pet store cage, or a small animal playpen/C&C grids and shower curtain (to protect the floor).

If you have overnights, you should have an indoors cage with you. If space in the car is at premium, you can fold up the sides and top and still use the travel box they know.

Make sure you have regular stops to feed and water the pigs (syringe or give cucumber). If it's hot, it would help if they had a small frozen bottle of water with them and had their food kept in a cool box (but then, so would you!)

i would suggest that whatever you choose a water bottle can be attached to it. I would also suggest smaller space and dark as that is less stressful for them.

Helpful ideas

These have been some really helpful ideas. I'm going to have a look at various cages/travel carriers and see which will be most appropriate. The comment about the water bottle is particularly important.
Thanks again to everyone :)
