Hey, not sure if this goes in housing or health but we are moving house soon and the house is being part renovated before we move in. Daisy has a liver condition so I am concerned about the voc’s and off-gassing of new things like the kitchen, carpets, paint etc.

Does anyone know how long after the work finishes we can safely move in?

Should we use zero voc paint or is low voc enough?

I have contacted our vets for advice but not heard back yet.

Thanks :)

Hello how exciting for you all !
I can’t give expert advice but I have laid carpets and painted rooms with my guinea pigs in my home .

I used zero voc paints …Little Knights or Frenchic paint
These are best I found having spent hours researching paints
I moved my piggies into another room for about 4-5 weeks while their room was painted and carpet laid
I avoided laminate/vinyl flooring as this needs levelling compound which is has an odour that is bad for piggies and humans
I also used a filter device to help

Could you avoid moving in until it’s done ? Or plan the rooms to do first ?
I’m sure you’ll manage it all just fine 🥰
Daisy is a lucky piggy to have such devoted and caring hoomans ❤️

I'm sure other piggy owners and our Experts will be along to offer advice

Thanks for your reply. Yes we can stay at our old house until all the work is complete luckily. Just not sure how long to wait until after the work is all finished. Online seems to suggest 4-6 weeks depending on what order the work is done.

I was thinking of Little Knights for the paint so good to have a recommendation. I came across one called Lakeland Paints as well which seem another good option.

Daisy is a baby sized (575g) 18 month old piggy with a congenital liver condition. She’s been through a lot but thankfully stable at the moment. She’s an amazing, strong and determined little girl. Love her so much :)

Sounds a great plan 🥰
.We’d love to see a pigture of Daisy …
Does she have a friend or is a lone piggy ?
As you know everyone here adores guinea pigs ❤️
