Well the travel to my parents last night went well, no traffic jams yeah! and furby only had a few stroppy indignant squeaks at cottonbud. Well mum had brought the rabbit hutch into the utility room for the pigs and i asked her to make the hutch up for me and oh my gosh the amount of hay in the hutch was obscene it was nearly half full! (she used a whole section of hay) they will not go hungry this week! Had cuddles and then popped them in and they were fine, had dinner and then started chomping on hay and did not seem at all perturbed by the cats thankgoodness (sigh of relief) They are now out in the garden in their brand new run chomping on grass now the teasel cat has decided that she can't get them she has got bored of guineapig tv

It always amazes me how laid back my girls are:))

can't stop jumping up to check on them, it is so lovely seeing them on the grass :)

I am so glad that they have made the switch without problems; once they are settled securely with you, they are actually quite adaptable!

i was expecting a few nervous days new cage new smells new noises etc etc.. , but seeing as they were going to have to go somewhere for 3 to 5 weeks depending on ohs work, putting them into boarding was not really an option. I am just so happy they are happy! my little sis was chatting to them this morning before school i could hear her!

It is very useful to establish a "secondary home" for your guinea pigs, especially when you are single or haven't got anybody near you to care for them over longer periods.

i have people who i could trust to pop in and feed them, but for holidays and proper care mum is definitely first port of call in a storm

I wish I had mine a bit closer than Switzerland! I can ask neighbours to pop in food for a day or two, but for anything else they have to go to a boarding place.

mum still has a rabbit hutch (5ft by 2ft) and we have not had rabbits for ten years unfortunately all the runs and things had been given away/fallen apart, but she is a sucker for animals and a sob story and fosters dogs for terminally ill families so they can concentrate and then have the dog back after

I think taking them back to swizterland might be a tad more difficult
