Senior Guinea Pig
We sadly had to say goodbye to Mrs Fuzzy last night. The vet thinks is was Lymphoma which started as one lump and very quickly took over her whole body. She was dosed up on pain killers and happy and eating well right to the end. She still had her wonderful spark but her body let her down
Mrs Fuzzy was one of the extra special ones. She was originally bred by Pets at Home in Spain as part of a trial of designer pigs. Luckily this stupid trial ended not long after. A friend's landlord bought her and it was not long before our friend took her in. She sorted her matted hair out and asked us if we could take her. She was supposedly male and called Mr Fuzzy but it turned out she was female so the Mr was changed to Mrs. In December 2012 we travelled on the train to York (there and back in one day) to pick her up. She was about a year old. We soon realised she had health issues and an old friend who I used to volunteer with diagnosed a heart issue which our vet agreed with. She soon started to thrive and gain weight and now almost 5 years later we think she was approaching her 6th birthday. She even survived an emergency spay 2 years ago, which is wonderful for a heart pig.
Mrs Fuzzy was just wonderful, small and ginger and reminded me a lot of our late Nigel. She used to bounce about and got on with every pig she met. In the last few months she developed a liking for the Oxbow digestive vitamins and would dance at the grids until we gave her one, and if I was not quick enough she would start chattering. She loved syringes as long as they had something she liked in them and would chew the syringe and start flinging it about and then drop it and sit on it, expecting me to miraculously conjure up a new one while she sat there. Our ultimate Fuzzy memory was when she woke us up in the night with a fart not long after she arrived.
Fuzzy lived with a lot of our old pigs and was loved by them all, she leaves behind Little Rose who has not left her side this last week. She is doing ok, and seemed to be relieved last night that she could be up and about eating bless her. We are looking at bonding her with the Allcocks.
Sweet dreams beautiful FuzzBum. Love you forever, hope you found your friends at the bridge.
The first photo below is her on the train on the way home from York.
