Does anyone have any guinea pigs that will not eat pellets and will only eat Museli.

I know there is a lot of debate of what to feed your guinea pigs and is different for everyone but mine does not touch the nuggets, so have had to go back to muesli, he has always been fed that and was before i got him.

I know it more available in places

are they the kidney shaped original ones? Mine wont eat them either but love the blackcurrant and oregano ones and P@H ones. Also there is the harrigntons brand (was wagg optimum) they are often on offer in Asda and are a good price for a high quality product.

Mine hate Oxbow pellets (very very expensive mistake!) I haven't tried Burgess Blackcurrant & Oregano yet but they are nice small pellets & everyone's piggies seem to like them. I mix a little Wagg Guinea Crunch which is a muesli type with Wagg Optimum (now Harrington's) & the pellets are weeny, they love those & never leave any ever! :)

I find muesli less expensive and easier to get, I have been mixing in with pellets but he does not touch pellets, I know some people have tried both and have stuck with muesli, dont want to waste my money if he is not going to eat it

does he leave any of the muesli or does he eat it all?

mine have harringtons and love it as its smaller.

I persoanlly have never tried mine on harringtons though i would like to, but it is very popular with alot of members and their piggies. Does anyone know if they do samples?

Send an email to the burgess customer services team, explain that you want your pig to be on a good, recommended brand of food but at the moment will only eat muesli, you've bought a bag of the normal nuggets, he wont eat them, someones recommended the blackcurrant and oregano ones and please could you have a sample to try before commiting to buying a large bag

Burgess are pretty good with their free samples, I got a 750g bag of these to try.

Oh right, maybe they havne't got any at the moment, they are sending out samples of their "all in one cube" with blackcurrant and oregano, you could ask for a sample of this?

Unusual of burgess not to give samples.

Do your pigs eat all of their muesli or do they leave bits?

Whilst pellets are more expensive to buy, a lot of people find they last longer as there's no waste so you need to feed less.

I used to believe my guinea pigs wouldn't eat pellets, but I was wrong. You just have to persevere with the pellets. Mine now aren't fussy and enjoy both varieties of Excel - mint and blackcurrant and oregano. I used to use Wagg muesli and I strongly believe since the swap I have seen an improvement in the health and wellbeing of all my pigs, there is also a lot less food waste, they can't just pick out the bits they want to eat and the Excel pellets I also find don't spoil like the muesli does.

Mine have also tried the Science Selective and are happy to eat that too but it's hard to find a supplier round here.

If you want a sample I am quite happy to post a little bag with a few in, just pm me your addy ;)

Mine prefer musli over pellets but will eat both. As long as theu eat it all or don't pick their fave bits I don't see a problem

Thank you for the kind offer lovely, i dont expect you to do that, i am waiting for them to come back to me :)

I'm the same as you, mine would only eat gerty guinea pig so I decided to try the Oxbow pellet with them as I've tried others and they won't eat them but they love the Oxbow ones!
But they are very expensive tho
