Hi I'm new and I'm not sure if I'm doing this right... the only other forum I'm on is for menopausel women... so not quite the same ... I've been a guinea pig owner and lover for many yrs but I need help... i was giving my piggies oxbow vitamin c tablets but I couldn't get hold of them so I've bought oxbow multivitamins.. but I've just read on some sites on Google that they should NOT have them... so I'm confused.

Vitamin C is very important for guinea pigs as, like us, they cannot make their own so they need to get it from the diet. I'm not a big fan of supplements as the guinea pig should be able to get enough from veggies. Red and yellow peppers are high in Vitamin C, as well as kale and brocolli, although these last two are also high in calcium, so should be fed occasionally rather than every day. As a general rule, if you feed a variety of veg you won't go far wrong with vitamins.

My girl Baby needs to be given vit C suppliments on her veg, which the vet prescribed, but he said she could just be given Abidec multi vitimin drops from babies,
This is because she has stiff joints, she gets fresh veg daily including peppers every day so why she isn't getting enough I don't know but for some reason she isn't, she isn't a massive eater either so it could be she just isn't consuming enough to get the right amount.
But either way for my Girl the vet has prescribed suppliments,

So they are safe for Guinea Pigs who need them but if they don't need them, I don't think it's a good idea to give them,
The vet told me she would urinate out the left over vitimins, but hopefully this isnt a long term thing, just to get her joints better so a few months at most hopefully :)
