hi ive got a mum and 4 babies which were born friday just gone the 19th of june. i have noticed the babies have started to scratch a little i have totally cleaned their hutch but they r still scratching any ideas as i read that * cant really put anything on them as they r too young. please help as i dont want them to die. please. thankx

I am sorry, I haven't got any experience with medicating babies, but want to bump up this thread.

It could be mites? Have you checked mum?

Could it be just "normal" scratching?

my boys are prodigious scratchers. They've been checked over and over again by the vet and apart from making them VERY stressed as the vet is a litle rough with them, nothing has ever shown... but if in doubt, take them to the be checked.

sometimes mums can become stressed throughout pregnancy and this does sometimes cause a mite outbreak so best looking for mites and depending on how bad then it might be worth looking into something, maybe georgouse guineas could help as if it is mites they might be able to make a weaker treatment safe for mum and babies

I had this problem too when my little suprise babies were born. Chrissie at Gorgeous Guineas advised to try the lice & easy shampoo but to wash it off straight away instead of leaving it on for 5 mins as per the instructions for adult piggies x
