I have a dog a budgie and a New Guinea pig my toddler has not contact with my guinea pig I'm adopting him two female and my parents are demanding I get rid of them as there making my toddler ill all the time my piggy has his own room that my toddler dont play in so why is he to blame he clean he's house with megazorb bedding he's healthy if anything I can understand the bird could be to blame but not my pepper I'm really very upset its not nice somebody calling your fur baby's

Firstly sorry to hear your having problems. What symptoms is your toddler exhibiting? And is the budgie in an area he is a lot? I would try moving the budgie for a start and see if makes any difference.

She's geting ill weeks on end colds cough fever runs headaches sneezing ,she has had contact with my budgie andi have moved her in a roomy daughter can't get too her also my husbands breathing has been worse this year x

I'm in the process of adopting two more guinea pigs and I'm being told not too but I don't seen why I can't keep them they have there own room that my daughter don't go in I feel strongly about caring for my guinea pig and having a family is part of his well being he makes me smile everyday and I need that x

It would be worth checking with your GP first about your child as it may be something completely unrelated! Also birds can cause a number of problems that impact on breathing so budgie may be more at fault. I would get your family checked out first. If the toddler has no contact with piggies it is unlikely that an allergy or similar is responsible.

Yes thank you she's going to doctors today and my budgie can just go back to the Avery she came from so the bird will be happy with that I'm sure I think it's in ours and budgies best interests to go but my guinea pig is going nowhere I'm not budging with him x

My guinea pig came with health problems from pet shop I have sorted him out and he's healthy now I have just got him castrated so he can have two girls from a rescue and I have already planned his christmas presents lol my boys hear to stay so my parents can do one lol

Fair enough, you are a grown up with your own family and it's up to you to make decisions regarding them. There are many owners on here who have or whose families have allergies to piggies or their bedding so even if that's the case there are ways to manage it unless it's extreme although it sounds like it's not the piggies at all.

I hope you get your ills sorted out, it will hopefully come to a solution that everyone is happy with. x

My budgie is going back to the breeder today I'm quite upset but I think she will be happier and I don't need to worry about my husbands asthma it's really sad feel guilty but the birds going to be happy from being alone to a Avery

Such a hard decision but it sounds like it's the right thing long term. I hope your furry and not so furry family end up happy and healthy x
