Mums pig wont stop fitting

Shes just text me saying that Barney won't stop fitting :(

now shes on the phone crying to me :(
 
Ohhh noes,is he at the vets now? Can you go to the emergency vet? Hope hes okay xxxxxx
 
apparently she went and they said they couldnt see anything wrong with him but hes fitted twice since coming home.
 
I am so sorry! Can your mum get him to some emergency vets?
 
i reckon it might be epilepsy. hes fitting for about a minute and he'll salivate. no mange or fungal.

When thimble was fitted it was due to his blood sugar levels dropping, i know pigs and hamsters are completely different species but it might be another avenue the vet could think about?
 
Shes going to make him comfortable at the moment incase he fits again, so he won't hurt himself. To by entirelly honest the vets around where she is would most likely just suggest to put him to sleep as the vet today said he couldn't see anything wrong (which is stupid as the poor thing has been fitting so of course something is wrong!) shes going to see if hes eats tonight etc and see how he is the morning.

God damn useless vets! I wish they were all cavy savvy! I'lve lost guinea pigs in the past due to useless vets

Where abouts is she? Maybe someone could recommend a vet.

In the mean time, the best thing she can do is keeping him comfortable somewhere soft (as she is doing!) and keep him somewhere dark and quiet.

My boys and girl send healing wheeks for him!
 
Shes in Tidworth
She has put him in a box with towels to pad the sides is if he fits again he shouldn't hurt himself. And hes upstairs in the dark and warmth

My mum said that he had a fit during the night because it woke her up but this morning hes eaten some vegetables. I've told her to go into her vets today to see if she can get some diazapam
 
I'm Barneys mum, thanks for all the helpful suggestions and nice comments. He's stopped fitting and is eating normally now and doesn't seem any the worse for his ordeal. But I am keeping a close eye on him. x

Hi My name is Barney and my mum is typing this for me. I live in Wiltshire and I am 4 and a half years old. Hanwombat is my Auntie, and soon she is giving my Mum 2 piggies that she took on as rescues. I am a very cute piggy ( aren't we all.lol), and my Mum loves me very much. I gave her a scare last week when I wouldn't stop fitting, but I am much better now thankyou. Not sure what breed I am, my Mum is not very good on that. I am brown, smooth haired, with a really cute nose.:))
