Ken got home from work and rang me at work to get home fast. Murphy was on his side and struggling to breath.

Wisked him off straight to the vets and they asked me to sign a consent form and they took him off. They rang me within 20 mins (heart sank thinking he had gone) he is very twitchey so has had an injection to stop fitting, and another i think she said antibiotic.

She said he is now in an oxygen chamber as she did not want to push him over the edge with handling him.

He has had his teeth checked all ok, heart very strong and she said he looks a good colour. But he has fluid on his lungs and near his nostrills(sp).

They are keeping him in i am, going back in a few mins to take his things as Michelle his vet says it will be nice for him to have his familiar things around him. Next 24 hrs are going to be crutial fingers crossed for poor Murphyx)

I am so sorry to hear that Murphy is critical!

Sending him, and you, BIG vibes!

Sorry to hear your news, sounds as if you have a very knowledgable and supportive vet. Thinking of you all xx

Thanks everyone.

Just got back from dropping off Murphys things. Michelle is a fabulous vet she loves small furrys and really cares about them, i know she will be doing her best for him.

Without me even asking they said come on through and see him. In just a short time they have got his breathing sounding alot better. He was very flat and sleepy though i think they said he has been given a sedative to help relax him.

Just before i got there he had been given fluids under his skin. They had him wrapped in a little paw print fleece and they have him in an oxygen tank.

Got to ring them at 9.30 in the morning. Michelle and Niki the nurse are on duty all weekend so I know he will be in the best hands.

I feel so lost and useless at the moment as he went down hill so fast again and because ive been feeding him every 4 hours, it feels so strange to not have something to be doing with him. I do wish they would let us worried piggy parents stay with them at the vets:(

Murphys cage mates, Honeyb,Trinny and Susannah are all looking abit lost .

We call Honeyb the dinner lady as she always rounds up the others when its veg time, she is only happy when everyones round the dish munching together. Myself and Ken are very upset to see poor Honey looking for him to come and get his tea she has just ran round and checked every hidey looking for him. Gosh if only i could make them understand where he is.8...

I am sorry he went downhill so suddenly Lindsay, bit of a nosedive but hopefully with your quick action the vets can bring him round again. Thinking of you and Murphy. xx

Just got the phone call that i was dreading. Poor little Murphy passed away a few minutes ago. Niki said that he was very peaceful layed on his heat pad that i took to him at 6.15 along with all his other things.

We are absolutely devastated and i am so upset for the girls as they wont understand what happened to him.

Thanks for all your support over the last few days.

so sorry to hear this. love to you and all your furry friends. i know they will miss Murphy too

Hes on my profile pic and its making me worse seeing him looking at me, but i dont want to change it. I have just cuddled the girls and told them maybe if hed gone at home they would understand whats happened or would they feel worse seeing him like that. Its so so awful.

So sorry, Lindsay. You did everything you could for him but he was obviously too poorly to pull through. I expect your girls are feeling the loss, but I am hoping that they will regroup in the coming days and weeks.

BIG HUG

I am so sorry that your worst nightmare has come true and that your lovely boy hasn't been able to pull through, despite your and your vet's efforts. You truly couldn't have done more or acted any quicker!

Cuddles from my Tribe to your girls - losing a member of your crowd is hard.

I know how much it hurts; I had the same experience with my new avatar yesterday.

I am so so sorry Lindsay. Sending you love and hugs.

Could you possibly go and pick him up and put him with the others so they can see he's gone. I do try and make sure mine get to see that a cagemate has gone as I think it helps them understand and accept.

I thought about that after i got off the phone to the vets i have told them now i want him cremating and the ashes back. I just hope the girls will be ok they seem fine now it was just at tea time Honey was visably looking for him.

I think it's easier for them when they are part of a big group, rather than when one is left behind. I am sure they will be fine. I hope you're ok though x

Thanks Debbie, we are giving the girls extra cuddles. It feels so painful Murphys the first piggy we have lost to the bridge. I'm sure he will be popcorning away teaming up with a load of girls to look after.

It really helps having this forum and the understanding piggy people to talk to about it.

I'm so sorry Linds, I was hoping for better news. You did all you could for him. Huge hugs, you know where I am if you need me. xxxxx
