Eh people, I've seen quite a few members here talking about their piggies being fed on Museli-style dried foods?

Since keeping Guineapigs in 2005, I'm pretty sure that they're too fattening and not to mention, can be a choking hazard thus they should never be fed to the Cavies at all? I don't think in the wild does Guineapigs eat nuts etc too :...

I personally have been buying Oxbow with a few bags of Burgess Supa in-between but it got too expensive so I went back to Oxbow, and all are pellets-only foods.

Shouldn't Guineapigs be on those only + Hays + Quality fresh water and fresh vegetables? :x?/

It's a tough one. My piggys were being fed rabbit muesli before I took them in so have always eaten a muesli type food. I have tried no end to introduce them to a wide veriety of pellets but they just don't touch it. They always have fresh hay, and a bowl of fresh veggies every evening but also have two bowls of food to eat. Muesli and pellets. They never touch the pellets! :{

Ohisee /: Though personally I'd say, I rather have a heart of steel and remove the mix completely. With hay and fresh I don't think they'll go hungry without... And might work somehow?

They do enjoy their muesli though and because they have plenty of exercise and plenty of fresh foods I don't think it's doing them any harm. The muesli food I use is made of larger pieces which are the same size as their pellets anyway so I'm not worried about the choking. They are healthy, happy piggles! :)) xx

guinea pig museli doesnt have nuts in it. nuggets are mainly fed to prevent selective feeding.

Mine selectively feed leaving their expensive pellets. I swear they're primark pigs! :))

:)) :)) mine are definitely primark pigs... they love nothing more than a primark bag filled with hay to play in!

Oh I see :)
Thanks everyone for the inputs! Though I guess habits is hard to die off, so I'll still be a pellets-feeder to play safe 8)
