My 4-5 (turns five soon) female pig Patches are mushy poos. They aren't runny but just softer and gooier. She runs in her poos and gets them stuck in between her toes. (the poo get cleaned out whenever I take her out of the cage) Currently she has a little bit of very gooey poo on the fur of her butt and on her butt.

I read a little on what causes mushy poo and figured out that it may be caused by too much water. I took her off of lettuce (and other veggies) for two days and she still has mushy poos.

What is causing mushy poos?

i noticed the same with my boy...these last few days I have let him out in the garden and he has been going crazy eating grass...my hubby reckons it could be that...grass has been a bit wet too...I don't think its anything to worry about, but if you find out what it could be, it would be interesting to know...

You have to limit grass as it can cause upset stomachs. They should not be allowed to just graze non stop on it.

Once there tummy is used to the spring grass they can have all they can eat but it is a good idea to limit it initially.

Hi there , it depends on what exactly you mean by softer and gooier.

You are right to cut back on the veggie's ,good to increasing the Hay !

To much green veggie are often the cause soft/pasty/even watery poos in pigs

Also in particular this time of the year fresh rich Grass can be bad! ,to much to quickly can cause problems ,

Both of the above can cause poo probs that "can" last for days , or longer and if it were me l would get them on fibraplex , or another pro biotic , just to be on the safe side http://www.petdrugsonline.co.uk/site.aspx?i=pr183261

But if you mean by Gooier , there is mucus in and around the poo , then it can be a different thing altogether
