Peanut Butter finished his anti-biotics for a UTI yesterday so needed a new urine sample for the vet. Put him on a plastic tablecloth in the small "hospital" cage at 9am with water and wet vegies. Checking every 15 minutes to find plenty of pooping but no weeing. AT 12 pm became desperate and started syringing him with pro-biotic flavoured water every 30 minutes. Last check was at 2pm, poops aplenty, no urine. Phone rings and I get tied up until 2:45pm. Hang up, go over to PB and of course he has pee'd! Why didn't the bloody phone ring earlier? Anyway, syringed it up quick, mad dash by car and was at the vet's by 3pm with sample!

His follow-up appt is 3pm tomorrow so should have the urine results by then.

I have never had to do one. The vets prefer to do it so it is fresh as.(notice the Aussie expression)

They always make you wait when you need it asap. I have many a time turned my back for a second and they pee, it goes all into their tummy hair and there is none left to syringe.

I have the same problems with poos, whilst syringe feeding Esme she initially didn't like pooing inside so just wouldn't. We have poos a plenty when she comes in now x

very good! You have the lingo down perfect! So what does your vet do to get the sample?

Good to know I am not the only one! Very frustrating this!

They tend to squeeze the bladder and they wee!

I though of that myself but it didn't work! I was holding PB over the top of the hospital cage so his penis would squirt down and gently massaging the area bot no go. Both my boys hate the sound of the telephone. I reckon that was why he wee'd, he was startled by the telephone ringing. In future I am going to ask a friend to call me every 30 minutes if I have to do this again.

Aww poor baby. Mine do not care about my phone ringing but are so scared when I hiccup!

Ha ha, it is hilarious what scares animals. My dog panics when I cough. I've had tickles in my throat that I have held back until I can get to the difflam spray just so I don't scare her. Hard to stop hiccups though!

I know and I feel so guilty when I have them as they go brr and freeze. Aww your dog sounds so cute.

What a wait, Putt used to take ages sometimes. Please let us know how the results are.

Mrs S_B broke wind loudly once and Pitch and Putt went Brrrrrr :)) She will be annoyed when she see's this lol

She should be more than annoyed! I hope she thinks up a suitable punishment for you (but secretly I'm dying of laughter!).

Peanut Butter was unable to attend his appt today because I ended up in hospital from 9:30am to 3:30pm and after the morphine I had to get ended up just crashing in my bed until after dark. Now I have to re-schedule both PB's appt and the plumber that was due to come out for my leaky shower tap this morning. It being Friday here nothing much is going to get done until Monday. I am hoping that after I cancelled the appt the vet would have called if there was anything too serious.

Good as thanks! Aftereffects of a car accident back in 1999. Everyone once in a while my back muscles go into spasms. I have meds for it that usually take care of the problem. But about once a year they don't and it's off to the hospital for the heavy stuff. Unfortunately the spasms escalate so bad as time passes that by the time I get to hospital, it takes several morphine injections over the course of the day to get it under control.

Anyway, the vet left a message and can see PB this morning (Saturday) so am rushing off with him in a few minutes.

Gosh how horrible for you.

Heh heh you said good as. I love Aussie words!

And we over here think most of the Pommies that live here sound so posh! Aussies have been accused of being lazy with language. We try to shorten everything we can. My son's name is Aaron and he gets Azza or Az. My granddaughter is Alyssa so she gets Ally. Arvo is afternoon. Smoko is any work break. Another trait is to cutify everything. My Canadian friend who visits very couple of years still howls when she hears the phrase "the latest bikie gang violence happened in ..." on the news.
