Hiya

Looking for some advice I have 2 brothers living together have done for over a year. Recently one is trying to mount the other all the time and they are starting to squabble. I have tried 2 lots of food and other bits but someone has suggested neutering but not sure I’ve heard mixed reviews about doing it. Is this common behaviour?

They could be going through there teenage years, the mounting points to that. Go back to how they were with food, squabbling isn't really bad. If they start to fight keep your eye on them, & if any blood is drawn separate immediately, make sure you have thick gloves on or throw a towel over. You WILL get bitten if you try to break a fight up unprotected.

If they are over a year old, then they are probably past their the majority of their teenage years, but they may still have dominance issues. As long as nobody is getting hurt, then leave them to work it out but be prepared that if blood is drawn they will probably have to be permanently separated. Don’t separate unless absolutely necessary though.
Neutering won’t make any difference. It only prevents pregnancy, it won’t change their behaviour ( it does in other animals, but doesn’t in guinea pigs).
Do they have a big enough cage? Boars need a lot more room to help prevent problems.
My two boars have had to have a huge cage to keep their bickering down.

I have just brought them a new enclosure and it seems to of helped :) they have the odd scuffle but things seem better

Like a standard indoor cage with a plastic bottom and this is so much better I’ve put in a hay ball and rack a new log tunnel my big boar chocy has taken the hut as residence and my other boar humbug is happy in the log hut. I did a bit of research and it seems to of helped

It will help alot. You can get decent size plastic bottom ones but they charge the earth for them

My two boys get along most of the time, but occasionally have a spat. They are 3 years old and I still haven’t worked out who is top dog. I have a wooden little house like yours in part of their outside run, they love it full of hay to hide in. I fill it to the roof, they can eat half of it in a day!
This photo was taken this summer when Ted was having dental problems, Bill kept guard all day by box and was a great little Nursemaid

Space is your best bet for keeping them happy and chilled x
