Hey guys, haven't been on here for a week or so, I went to visit home (kingston, london) for a few days to do some work. I was so happy when I came back, now however, I can't even sleep!

My little Beau's cage is on a table in my office, so he won't be lonely when I hermit in there for work, I usually feed him a few times etc. This Sunday, I gave him some hay and left the cage door open while tying the bag and the little sod suddenly leapt out of the cage and made a 4 foot fall to the hard wooden floor!

He wheaked and limped and was generally disorientated, I took him in my lap and he lay down immediately (something you can't get him to do ever). Of course it was a Sunday afternoon, so I worried, fretted , let him sleep and sleep and sleep. I gave him some water, he drank it, gave him hay, food snacks everything, he didn't eat the snacks or the pellets, but he ate the hay a lot. The next Monday I phoned the doctor at 8am and got a 9 o clock appointment. He checked his front leg the right one and he sprained his shoulder good, he was in a little shock so the vet gave him a painkiller.

I went home, but I didn't feel right he refused to touch his snacks and I got worried, so at nose point I bit off a little bitesized chunk and held it out, Well he Loved it, so I fed him little bits of everything every hour or so up until 3am, went to bed, and now this morning, I looked at him once more. It was just a hunch, but I forced his little mouth open and found that during the night, one of his front teeth had come out completely and the other was hanging loose. That's why he wouldn't eat...

I have another appointment in an hour to take him to the vet... I am so worried. I haven't slept in two days :( I feel like such a stupid idiot for letting the cage door open :'( He shouldn't have to suffer. :'( I don't know what to do...

accidents to happen, so don't blame yourself, i am surprised the vet didn't check his teeth when you first bought him in. sounds like you'll be feeding him C&C via syringe or mashed pellets in boiled water(allow to cool) until his teeth grow back or his mouth is not so sore. :'( :'( :'( you need to stop blaming yourself and be their for beau and get some sleep. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: it won't do beau any good if you get sick. jessie has fallen onto tiled floor and yet she was right as rain, just ran off and took ages to catch, this was when she was about 10 weeks old(1.4 months ago). wishing you luck at the vets. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: sending you and beau hugs and cuddles :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: and the girls send beau :-* :-* :-* and please don't beat yourself up over it. everyone is human and make mistakes. :smitten:

Update:

Ok I went to the vet. The bus that takes me across the border o the Netherlands wouldn't come :( But a nice Belgian gentleman stopped and gave me a lift. The vet removed his broken tooth which was bent backwards and was sticking into his cheek and lip, Now he is in his cage munching away on bitesize bits of carrots I gave him. Oh I feel so much better now. Thank you Choloe ;D :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

awww so glad you've got it sorted :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: ((HUGS)) don't worry these things happen O0 my peony jumped out of a basket once and caught her toe in it, she dislocated it/broke it but she's fine now :smitten: :smitten:((hugs)) :smitten:

Glad he's feeling better, poor little fella! fingers crossed he's fine in no time :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Hey everyone!

Thank you for your kind words, they really made me feel better.
Yesterday was kind of a hassle for me because I had to report to the foreigners office and explain why I lost my job (since I am foreign) so when I got home from the Spanish Inquisition, I went straight to bed...

Beau is doing great however. He did not learn from his mistake one bit! I opened his cage and he immediately started to clamber out again. I learned though and am keeping lots fo fluffy pillows underneath, just in case.

He is eating his pellets (I methodically cut them all in half with a knife for hours, because he doesn't like it when I mix it with water, fussy little thing) and he is drinking his water now. He can't chew into his greens yet, so we have a quickly established ritual 5 times a day where I sit next to him and bite off a piece of carrot and give it to him. He takes it from my fingers ever so gently and while eating it, he makes a noise that resembles purring. When he's had enough he goes back into his little house and sleeps. I also bought some endive (sp?) and shredded it, so he c an eat that by himself.

When I cleaned his cage today he rolled around in his fresh hay. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Also, I am going to see if I can find a camera and record the purring, it is the cutest thing ever!

:o :o :o these piggies sure do know how to upset us don't they ::) :'( :'(
Very glad to hear that little Beau is now doing well, ahhhh a mummies intuition that something was wrong well done O0 O0 O0
Within a couple of days his toofie will have grown and it will make it easier for him, they actually learn to adapt to a shorter toofie O0 :smitten: :smitten:
Heaps of healing wheeks for Beau and (((((((((HUGS)))))))))) for you :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
And don't worry these things happen so often they're just determined to come and join us but forget they aint got wings ::) ;D ;D ;D bless him he sounds such an adorable little one would love to hear the recording of him purring :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

glad he is doing well :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: i too would love to hear the purring as none of mine have ever purred :'( :'( :'( glynis has a dancing piggy and you have a purring one all mine do is eat, sleep and poop. but i love them anyways. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: hoping beau continues to improve, sending hugs and cuddles :smitten: and the girls send :-* :-* :-* :smitten: :smitten:
