My story of Ash-Rock
Ash was one of the 2 brothers I got to seperate and bond with the 2 rescue boys I had that had fallen out. After 2 days we realised that something was not right with his brother Neo and after a trip to the vets were told he had ringworm, possibly mites, a chest and eye infection and to keep them together until they had been treated. We also thought they were only about 4 weeks old due to their size and weights. They were like hamsters!
this was ehen young:
By the time their treatment ended it was clear they were very much bonded and therefore we could not seperate them! They were the terrible twins! Never apart and full of mischief!
If they were scared they would run to each other for comfort
and loved cuddling each other..
Neo was the nipper (which we put down to the fact he was the one who had the most invasive treatment.. Ash was the softy
Ash and Neo were the most naughty out of all my piggies.. numerous times we found they had chewed their way out of their hutch, or their ramp would be knocked over and eaten.. infact they acted more like degus
I went outside in the early hours of this morning, about 3am. I went out to feed them and change water like I normally do. These are the only 2 out of my 8 that are in hutches in the bunny garage as they adore their 2 storey hutch so much
I heard Neo crying out and he was running around eratically, when I looked Ash was lying on his side at the bottom of the hutch. I screamed for Del (my OH) to come and we realised he was taking his last breaths. I got an indoor cage out and put neo in, then wrapped Ash in a towel and we brought them inside. Unfortunately he passed away in my arms while I told him I loved him and would miss him. Earlier that day he had been running around and when del fed him (which he normally never does, as I do it all) he had gone to him for a stroke and cuddle) I have been poorly and my friends had talked me into going out for a couple of hours that night. I wish I hadnt. I can not believe I was not there when he needed me, although I am very pleased I was with him when he passed.
Ash was in a right state when we found him (if anyone has any advice on what it could have been that kille him please look at his thread in health and illnesses) and Neo is really missing his brother already. They had some time together before we removed Ash.
Its heartbreaking. Amost 1 year old, far too young. Will be terribly missed by us all.. R.I.P my Asher, we will love you forever and will try and remember the happy times, and your cheeky face.. Sleep well, my furrybaby and popcorn free.. Loads of love from your none furry family (mammy Tori, Daddy Del, Codie-Beth and Jay-Caleb) and your furry siblings.. (neo, comanche, Travis-Gandalf, Stevie, Phoenix, Mylo, Murphy, Lara-Grayce, Lightning, Georgia-Amelia, Sasha, Samson, Maxwell, Willow, Emleigh the fish and all the fosters and others that have been and gone)
