Hi everyone,
Really didn’t think I would’ve writing this post given that everything seemed okay.
My beautiful gorgeous Zorro (piggy in my profile pic) has sadly passed away.
He was given a clean bill of health at the end of October - all my pigs were.
End of last week we noticed he wasn’t as active and turns out he had a cyst under his jaw full of water. We took him to the vets for an emergency appointment and they were great. Drained it and said he should be okay… and also told us to give him a bum bath. Because where he wasn’t as active, he had sat in his own pee and poop and it got a bit messy. He was in a very unhappy mood when he returned on Friday.. so we wiped him as best as we could and just wanted him to rest.
I gave him a bum bath last night and everything seemed okay. We went in today to give them all their breakfast and it looked like he just passed away in his sleep.
I’m devastated, he was my first piggy and almost 5 years old. He’s over the rainbow now with his beloved Nine (his first wife), his son Pixie, his other wives, Faye and Yin Yin, and I have his other 2 gorgeous sons to remember him by. (Not a planned pregnancy btw, we were told he was a girl originally!)
I’m beyond devastated, everything seemed okay, he was eating like a champion, just seemed annoyed with all the faff.
I am worried about his cagemate Momo, she’s on her own now, and I have the other 2 boys in a cage next door (with a wall partition, that they can’t see through) and so I am looking to get her a friend or 2 quite quickly. If I remove the wall so they could see each other, I’m worried Lancelot and William will go crazy and fight each other, over Momo even though she’s on the other side of the wall… and William might even try to climb over the cage which I really don’t want.
I hate this so much. I’m going to miss you more than anything Zorro, you were such a force and such a good boy. I remember the time I took you to the vets worried you were unhappy because you’d stopped eating- only to find out there was nothing wrong with you, you just didn’t like coriander anymore (thankfully this was short lived!).
Please know I loved you with all my heart and I will do everything I can to make sure Momo, Lancelot and William are okay. I’m so sorry… I’m going to miss you more than anything.
