My beloved alpaca Nooby crossed over to Rainbow bridge last Thursday after a long battle with a URI.
He came to me as a little fluffy baby with his hair stuck up like all over the place and I got him another baby boar for company a golden and white sheltie named Finnbar.
They grew up together as best friends and Nooby adored him, always following him around and sleeping as near as he could get to him. Although he was needy Finnbar let him cuddle up and occasionally rumble him gently! They were like brothers.
When poor Finnbar passed over to Rainbow Bridge 9 months ago, Nooby was devastated, He grieved terribly, I have never had a pig who has grieved so much and although he got on with his life he lost his sparkle permanently.

I got him a new friend as quickly as I could and although he liked Buggy and perked up a little he sadly never bonded with him properly.

Now, after a brave battle with a persistent URI, it got the better of him and he has passed over.

I miss him terribly, I miss his chin tickles and his mountain goat impressions on his tunnel. I still miss Finnbar and his funny aloof but friendly chillpig ways.

My little Sugar puff and Coco pop are together once more and I know that Nooby will have his sparkle returned and be cuddling up to his best friend once again. Love to my darling boys. x

nb - Buggy is coping well, he is young and fingers crossed that he hasn't also caught this disease. He deserves a medal as even though they weren't overly bonding he recognised Nooby was very poorly and supported him throughout his illness.

I am so sorry for the loss of your piggy. To lose a piggy is so hard, he obviously had such a wonderful home with yourself. Finnbar and now Buggy. Welcome to the forum, sorry it is in such sad circumstances

It is good news Buggy is doing okay, have a read of this thread here Looking After A Bereaved Guinea Pig

Sleep well little one

RIP Nooby
x x

So sorry to hear of your sad news. Night night little poppet, popcorn free at the bridge x

I'm really sorry for both of your losses... Big hugs to you.

Popcorn free and together Nooby and Finnbar x

I am very sorry for your loss! Nooby couldn't have had a better mum! You usually bond even closer during a long battle; it is always hard when you lose it, as you do not just have the pain of the loss, but also the sheer physical and emotional exhaustion to deal with in the aftermath, which can make the blues really bad. :(

RIP Nooby Dooby

PS: @sport_billy has already given you our tips for what you can do for a bereaved companion. Guinea pigs can be so supportive and caring!

I'm so sorry that you lost your precious fur baby. Popcorn free Nooby Dooby x

I'm sorry to hear about Nooby what a loving little thing he was. I lost my Guinea to URI 2 days ago I am so upset I had him from a baby too. Lots of love to you and Buggy xx

Thanks so much to everyone for their kind words and support, I have had piggies for about 10 years but have never joined a forum, I now dont know why I havnt as I feel so much better! :-)
You are so right Weibke, you do have the emotional exhaustion after a battle trying to save your little ones and I am so sorry Laura that you lost your baby too. Uri's are such a dreadful disease. Lots of hugs for you x
