My Boars - Batman, Bubble, and Squeak!

(I do hope the photos load eventually, as I'm not sure why they aren't showing up for me.)

Here they are during their second intro time! Bubble is in the lead there, and Batman is the white one.

This is a picture of what I trimmed off Squeak's back feet when I cut the brothers' nails. I can't imagine walking around on that was fun for them at all!

If people want to see Batman's foot, I have TONS of photos of it. I also have a few shots of Squeak's back, but they aren't very clear. It's really hard to get good pictures of a black guinea pig, especially when he's a Peruvian - all that hair gets in the way!

Bubble & Squeak - where's the head and where's the behind? If It weren't for the little red eye I wouldn't have known. Reminds me of one of our lizard types here where the front and back look the same. All 3 boys are lovely.
 
More Pigtures to share!

I redid the boys' cage today and decided to try them all together again since they are getting along really well during floor time. I decided to take out the cage bottom "kitchen" since maybe it was just taking too much floor space. Instead I put in three corner litter pans with shavings. There are three food bowls, three water bottles, three igloos, three veggie bowls, and two hay boxes.

So far, so good!

Unfortunatly you may have to be prepared for failure, as boar trios rarely get on. But lets hope they do, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. They are all very gorgeous though! x)

I know - Batman's just recovered from a nasty bite he got the first time I tried them all together. If it doesn't work this time, I will separate them again and start boar dating so I can have two pairs.

I might be splitting up the brothers if it looks like one of them might get on better with Batman, because they squabble a lot. They've squabbled all along, even before I introduced Batman - even before I brought them home with me, according to the people I took them from! It's never out-and-out fighting, but I can't imagine that they're a bonded pair, even if they have been living in close quarters for most of their lives. (By close quarters, I mean a 36"x18" cage with a wooden hidey that took up a good 6" of the length of the cage.) And if they aren't bonded, I don't think they will mind too much if they're split up, especially if they can still see each other and get to play during floor time. (I would add to the cage and make it a 4x5 with grids down the middle to make it two 2x5 cages with a pair in each side.)

Also, in prepping the cage for this attempt, I only cut the side zip ties from the divider I was using while Batman was recovering from his injuries. The divider is actually swung up and I used a couple of Velcro strips to secure it to the roof of the cage! So if I have to put it back, I just have to undo the Velcro and swing it back down, then secure the sides again. Shouldn't be too difficult. (I'll then be back to a 3x3 for whatever pairing I've got going on and a 2x3 for whomever ends up alone.)
 
...Yeah, no go. I split them up again, keeping the brothers together.

I watched while Batman bit Squeak in the head and then went and picked a fight with Bubble. Nobody was hurt this time, thank goodness, but I am not risking their safety and well-being.

Batman's only 16 months old right now, I might give it another go at the end of the summer. In the meantime, they definitely all get on quite well for floor time, so at least they can play together!
