Ok,I'm posting this as my two boars only 7mths old, diffrent breeds and way diffrent charactors have a very very strong bond! I cant get one piggy out with the other going nuts! He will run around squeeking looking for his pal, each pig does this if either are out without the other, they generally get really upset...
If i take them out together there fine, maybe wee but happier together, the thing is somtimes i have to see to one piggy at a time and this is when they go nuts!
I'm begining to think they have seperation issues! They been together since about 5wks old so that might have somthing to do with it,they do show signs of dominance but its settled very quicky and there snuggled up together in no time, even tho i have two of everything!
I feel almost bad posting this as its normally about boars not getting on! I also worry what if somthing happened to one of them how would the other cope? ( god forbidding!)
I guess I'm stressy as not long lost mr piggles and do not want anything happening to these two lovely boys! ( mr piggles wasnt in with them as cotton didnt get on with him yet wolly woo did! )
Any suggestions on how stop them getting so stressed when one of them is out of the enclosure? This happens even if they can still see each other!

I had this separation problem with one of my first pair of girls, but I persisted and eventually she settled down after a few months. Be glad that your boys have such a strong bond!

PS: There are several rescues that offer bonding for single piggies of all ages; your closest would be Crawley Guinea Pig Rescue. It gives a single piggy the option to meet several likely candidates under expert supervision in order to find a character compatible new mate - and character compatibility is the key to any successful piggy bond! I have gone down the dating route several times myself, each time with a very happy and loving new relationship resulting from it.

I'm very happy my boys are so strongly bonded but just worried about them stressing out when one was removed say for toe nail clipping, vets app, anul cleaning ect, ive just lost a piggy so worried if i lost another how would the other one cope beings as there bond is so strong, and yes i do realise people have a life outside of this forum!

In rare cases a very closely bonded piggy will pine to death; most however will come round after a few days of withdrawal. Often it helps if you can get them to choose a new friend. Even very closely bonded piggies have got a new lease of life with finding a new mate!

However, you can persist in getting them used to short separations. That is a different issue. Praise your boys effusively when they are separated and give them a little herbal or grass treat.

Your boys sound lovely. My Hamish squeaks if I get Dougal out first, but I'm not sure if it's because he misses him, or if it's because he thinks he's missing out on a run around or some treats. :)) They are happy enough living together, but I wouldn't call them closely bonded.
