Junior Guinea Pig
Hi guys, some of you may know about my boars and how they aren’t the best of friends. My dominant piggy out of the two is constantly chasing around the other , humping him, to the point he hardly comes out of his hidey because he knows he can’t get any peace when he does and gets chased around. The dominant piggy Willis doesn’t actually hurt him, but I would class it as bullying, and the submissive one runs off and squeals. Sometimes he will lunge for him, to make him back off. It works for about 5 minutes and then Willis starts again, I felt like my submissive pig may have been getting a little fed up and depressed and spent most of his time hidden away or staying still so Willis wouldn’t start on him. This has been going on and off for about a month or so now and doesn’t seem to be getting any better. My submissive piggy, has come out in mites and ringworm, which I’m not starting to think could it be caused by stress? He has had ringworm before though, but I’ve heard it can flare up when they’re stressed. Anyway, I’ve decided to temporarily split them until I’ve decided what’s best for my submissive boy, I don’t think it’s fair on him to have to live in fear all the time, especially now it’s got so bad he doesn’t want to leave his hidey. Since last night when they was split he has perked up a lot, his brother Willis is biting the bars to get to him, but my submissive piggy isn’t even bothered about him. Have I done the right thing to split? They have a c&c cage and I’ve devided it with bars so they can still interact and smell each other, if this becomes a permenant thing I will extent their indiviadual cages to 4x2 is that big enough for one boar?
